What procedure is followed for root canal treatment?

The procedure of a typical root canal treatment involved the below-mentioned steps:

  • Step 1 – Preparing the infected region

For your root canal treatment in Pune, the first step your dentist will follow is to numb the area that is infected. This will rule out the pain during the procedure.

  • Step 2 – Cleaning the root

In this step, your dentist will clean the infected region of the pulp and disinfect the area properly.

  • Step 3 – Shaping and filling the root

The last step undertaken for your root canal treatment would involve shaping the root canal using an instrument and then filling it.

How to know if you must get a root canal treatment?

Not every tooth pain reflects on a root canal. Are you wondering when you need one? Look at the symptoms below before you schedule your root canal treatment:

  • You are facing consistent sensitivity to hot and cold food items.

  • You have pain and discomfort in a particular region of the teeth.

  • You can see a swollen area around a tooth.

  • Your teeth look discolored.

If your symptoms match the above description, then do not shy away in scheduling your root canal treatment.

The best thing is, not only can you get the finest root canal treatment in Pune, the treatment cost is also very affordable.

Finally, we wish you a fruitful treatment!

Frequently asked questions

Dentists use the term “root canal” in referring to the tiny, narrow passageways that branch from a central, hollow space in your tooth (called the pulp chamber) down to the ends of the tooth roots. The term can also be used as a shorthand for “root canal treatment” — that is, the procedure used to save the tooth if the soft tissue deep inside of it (called pulp) becomes acutely inflamed or infected.

If tooth pulp becomes acutely inflamed or infected because of decay or injury, the tissue will need to be removed in order to save the tooth and stop the infection from spreading. As an adult, you don't actually need the pulp — its primary use is to aid in tooth development during childhood.

The procedure normally causes no more discomfort that a filling would. Root canal treatment may have a bad reputation, but it is undeserved; in this case it's the disease that's to blame and not the cure. In other words, the infections that make the treatment necessary in the first place are often painful because they are inflaming tissue that has lots of nerves and therefore is very sensitive. Root canal treatment actually relieves this pain!

After numbing the area, a tiny hole in the crown (top) of your tooth is made to access the pulp chamber and canals. The diseased tissue is removed, and the pulp chamber and the canal(s) are disinfected all the way to the root end(s). Teeth in the front of the mouth have one root and generally one canal; back teeth have two or three roots and generally three or four canals. Those canals and the pulp chamber are filled with an inert, biocompatible material, and sealed with adhesive cement. The access hole will receive a temporary filling.

I went in for a cleaning but was not informed beforehand that my case won’t be handled by either of the Dr. Srinivasan’s. Staff was professional and courteous, however, the orthodontist on call definitely had a rough hand, making it an overall unpleasant experience. Moreover, the experience felt rushed given the urgency to meet the next appointment despite the 1/2 hr delay in starting mine. Also I firmly believe that patients can do without sarcasm when hearing recommendations from the on call hygienist. Often a simple yet non judgmental opinion is well received by patients. Anyway, hoping for a better experience next time if I do choose to go in.
